About the Episode

Alliah is a proud native of Buffalo, NY, a developing creative and so much more. In this interview we discuss why it was so important to her to write her first book, The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States, the challenges of integrating the new layers we find in ourselves as we grow into who we have always been, and the power of letting your gifts flow through you.

When we are new at something, it's easy to let self-doubt allow our steps to be a bit softer and our voices to be a bit shakier. I know that feeling of "certainly everyone here knows more/better than me. I just got here!" But just like people love to say "trust the process" I know that can be remixed to "trust YOUR process" too. Even if you are learning something, trust how you learn. Also, trust what you already know. And real talk? Trust that your perspective and your vision has worth. With time, with the right supportive voices around you and with practice at letting your ideas be fully seen, the confidence will come and your steps will grow stronger. Trust yourself. You got this.

Many thanks to my dear friend for sharing her wisdom, not just on my podcast, but also in this beautiful gift of a book about Juneteenth that I insist you all check out!
