About the Episode
In this episode, I am in conversation with Aspen Fitzgerald-Dorsey, my first cousin. While we are very close in age, we have had some very different life experiences. Aspen shares stories from her life including intense academic pressure she experienced attending a prestigious magnet high school, dealing with prohibitive graduate student loan debt, and how she is thinking about her values and priorities now that she is pregnant with her first child at 40. We compare notes about the different messages we've received about the "must-dos" of womanhood and about when was the right time to become a mother.
We also discuss the concept of quitting. When was the last time you quit something? How did you feel about it? Y'all, sometimes you gotta push through. But sometimes, you have to get real with yourself about a situation and be on your Elsa and LET IT GO!
Only you know when you have reached an unhealthy level of "try hard."

Aspen is a filmmaker with a love of technology and a passion for education. She enjoys leading teams of people toward a common goal. Aspen received her Bachelor's degree in Fine/Studio Arts, Theater, Film and Writing from St. Olaf College, then went on to study Cinematography and Film/Video Production at Columbia University New York. She currently works for Ted Conferences.
