About the Episode
Living a life that doesn't center Whiteness is bold and requires intentionality and imagination. In this episode, I am joined by Zerandrian Morris, who talks about the turning points in her life that led her to imagine what's possible and listen to spirit instead of following oppressive social conditioning. Zerandrian is someone whom I met when I was just a wobbly legged 18-year old in Atlanta. She was someone that made me feel seen, like I belonged whenever we found ourselves in the same space. So, to get this time with her and her brilliance!? To talk about one of the biggest topics on my YOU Better! checklist?!?! I'm so happy right now.
YOU Better! is a personal discovery podcast, but for me, to talk about personal discovery without examining systems of oppression and the impact they have on us feels incomplete. Touching upon oppressive systems in life story interviews is great. But from the start of this, I knew I wanted to roll up sleeves and really spend time digging in further with people who have done deep analysis on the "isms" that squeeze the US out of us.
